This evening I have a book haul for you! I was on a book buying ban for a few months during the summer so I went a little crazy with book buying as soon as I got the opportunity!
1. Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur
Milk and Honey is a poetry book which I had seen good reviews for all over the bookish community. This was actually my first time reading poetry and I am so glad I picked it up. Reading poetry feels a lot more intimate than a full length novel! Here is the Goodreads.
I have already read this book so you can check out my review here!
2. The Celts by Alice Roberts
I found this book whilst browsing through Waterstones and I am so glad the cover caught my eye. The Celts is a non-fiction follows Celtic civilisations throughout Europe and I think it will be a very eye-opening read, any research I have done in the past has focused on the Celts in Scotland. You can find it on Goodreads here!
3. Skin by Ilka Tampke
A few months ago I saw the cover for Skin on Twitter and added it to my to-buy list immediately. I am a sucker for anything with standing stones or that looks vaguely Celtic. It sounds like a very unique book set in Iron-Age Britain, and follows Ailia who was born without “skin.” Here is the Goodreads!
4. The Witch’s Kiss by Katherine and Elizabeth Corr
This book is honestly just a cover buy. I saw it a few times over on bookstgram and fell in love with the cover. You can check out the book’s Goodreads to find out more. After buying it I realised that it was co-written by two sisters which is so lovely, I can’t wait to get reading and find out more!
5. Crown of Thistles by Linda Porter
Crown of Thistles is a book that I wanted to buy as soon as I started my book buying ban. I used to go into Waterstones just to pick it up and hold for a while, so I am glad to say that it is finally mine! This book is a non-fiction historical book about Mary Queen of Scots and the rivalry between England and Scotland throughout history. I’m try to read more non-fiction so I can’t wait. You can check it out on Goodreads here!
6. Mariana by Susanna Kearsley
You may remember that I absolutely loved The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley, so I decided to buy a few of her other books. I have this weird fear that the US editions will all disappear so I made sure to quickly buy all of the ones I wanted before they were gone. You can find out more about Mariana here!
7. An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
I was originally waiting to buy these next two books in paperback, however the series got extended so I decided to hunt down the hardcovers. I bought a used but in perfect condition copy of An Ember in the Ashes on Ebay. I hate buying second-hand books but it was worth it to get the matching shiny spine! Check it out on Goodreads!
8. A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir
Next, I bought the UK hardcover of A Torch Against the Night to match the first book. I have heard great things about this series, but I am trying not to look into the plot very much. I want to go into this series blind! If you want to find you more you can check it out here!
9. Empire of Storms by Sarah J Maas
I of course broke my book buying ban to buy Empire of Storms by Queen Sarah J Maas. I bought the special edition UK paperback which included an exclusive short story. I then also bought the Barnes & Noble US hardcover because it has gorgeous exclusive fan-art and I couldn’t resist. Check out the Goodreads for more info, but be wary of spoilers!
I have already read Empire of Storms so you check out my review here!
10. Nevernight by Jay Kristoff
Last, but not least, I received Nevernight by Jay Kristoff. One of my best friends Vicky, who is HungUpOnBooks_ on bookstagram, sent me a copy as she ended up with multiples. I sent her back a few books to say thank you so it ended up being a fun book swap. Nevernight has been everywhere recently so I am very curious to pick it up and see what I think. You can find it on Goodreads here!
I hope you enjoyed my slightly ridiculous book haul! I am back on a book buying ban now because my TBR is just out of control. I really need to try to get it lowered before the end of 2016.
Have you bought any new books recently?
Don’t forget you can follow me on: Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, Goodreads & Pinterest! Thanks for reading!
I have very little self control so I totally understand about breaking the ban 🙂 Great haul
I think we all have terrible self control when it comes to books! Thanks for reading!
Looks like a pretty good haul. And book bans are just optional right. Like you can opt out of the, anytime?
That’s true!
It’s such a great feeling to splurge on books every so often though! 😀 I’m on a book buying ban at the moment (until after Christmas, yikes) so I just fawn over other people’s hauls ahaha 😆 Though I’ve not heard of them all, they all sound great. I especially want to try one of Susanna Kearsley’s books soon ❤
I know, it felt so good to just go into Waterstones and pick up what I wanted! I’m on a ban again now! Thanks for reading
I gave it and brought two books:
Three Dark Crowns and Uprooted.
Cant wait to read them 🙂
EoS was epic! I need to reread it very soon though *the feels*
Uprooted is amazing, the writing is so beautiful! Thanks for reading!
